This poem was inspired from the death of Michael Brown. This
kid, eighteen year old, African American Michael Brown from Ferguson,
Missouri, USA was shot by a cop on the street. The cop, a white
American, claims that he shot the kid in self defense and he suspected
him of robbery. Michael succumbed to the injuries within minutes, and
the officials later found out that he had no weapon on himself. Shooting
an unarmed person six times just over suspicion is I feel a misuse of
authority.Check out the link for the details. (LINK:

of this poem takes a bit of a look at racism issues.
It’s a story
of a lovely young lad,
Charming,
caring and compassionate,
A promising life
and a million dreams he had,
Adventurous,
artistic, articulate.
Walking down
the street one fine day,
Two gun
shots, were the last thing heard,
A painful
wail, no words to say,
Silence in
the air as, his cold eyes stared.
A soft thud,
as his body hit the floor,
His backpack
fell, his books scattered,
A sight so
appalling and abhor,
A disgusting
reality, once again discovered.
On an empty
road his limp body lay,
In a pool of
blood so dark,
Without any
remorse his killer walked away,
Not a single
word spoken, no remark.
It’s not the fight against crime,
It’s not the
war against sins,
It happens
over and over, time after time,
This is the
battle against the color of the skin.
Sometimes
fought with weapons,
While
sometimes words suffice,
Increasing
rapidly and for no reason,
You can see
how it tears apart so many lives.
But if we
rip the skin apart,
It’s all the
same inside,
All of us
have a crimson beating heart,
Black,
brown, white, or yellow is just the wrapper outside.
Still some
say white can rule the world,
But you need
to be careful with the others,
It doesn’t
take a genius to crack their code,
It’s the
color of the skin that really gets them bothered.
Separated by
borders,
Separated by
regions,
Separated by
color,
Separated by
religions.
Our
language, country, accent may differ,
Yet we all
fall under the same category,
Haters,
peacemakers, everyone altogether,
We all have
the same ancestry.
We all came
from Eve and Adam,
Our
differences ain’t differences but variety,
Hope these
words won’t be forgotten,
Each person
has a beautiful personality.
We share the
same sky,
We breathe
the same air,
We love, we
hurt, we smile, we cry,
And when cut
we all bleed red.
